John Good is committed to providing outstanding products and services within a framework that balances economic, environmental and social factors.
As part of that commitment we conduct our operations at our single site in Rugby in-line with an Environmental Management System, which meets the internationally recognised environmental management system standard, ISO 14001:2015.
We strive to be a responsible company, which operates in a way to minimise any adverse effects it may have on the environment. To this end, we commit to follow procedures, which ensure we make all operational decisions, which limit as far as possible any negative impact on the environment and work in a way that is as sustainable as possible.
Our account managers regularly advise customers on recycled paper options as well as guide regarding the option of carbon balancing print assignments via a World Land Trust initiative. Further, we are certified by The Soil Association.
Our courtyard garden serves as an oasis of green to our employees and visitors, where we tend to a garden and have planted trees.
We consistently recycle commercial waste by way of careful material segregation, primarily utilise vegetable based inks, and compress all plastic bales for collection by a trusted recycling provider. Having invested in the latest ink pumping stations allows us to eliminate the plastic stream on press. Our offices are also dotted with recycling stations and we only print email when absolutely necessary. Business cards that we produce are no longer delivered in plastic containers; sturdy paper boxes are used in lieu. Plastic cups have been discontinued across our sites. We keep up to date with environmental guidance and recommendations from industry bodies.
We have recently replaced all conventional fluorescent lighting with economic LED bulb technology, which emits no hazardous chemicals such as mercury.
Our objective is to exercise an appropriate level of control over, and to establish and maintain sustainability procedures, in the following areas:
- The work we produce.
- The environment in which we work.
- The way we work.
Our policy on sustainability is based on the following principles:
- To comply with and exceed, where practical, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions.
- To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
- To minimise the impact on sustainability of all office, production and transportation activities.
- To make all suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy and encourage them to adopt sustainable management practices.
- To annually review and continually strive to improve our sustainable performance.
We also recognise our wider social responsibility in our community. Fundraising for worthy causes is important to us. Over the years, we have hosted bake sales, raffles and food drives benefitting the likes of MacMillan Cancer Support, Save the Children, Children in Need, Warwickshire & Northampton Air Ambulance and Comic Relief, raising over £ 3,300.
The wellness of our teams is also vital. A healthy work-life balance is encouraged, which is in turned strengthened by a generous holiday allowance. Mental health and dialogue matters; our management team conducts an open door policy.
