Since its 1982 opening, a series of plucky Artistic Directors have created productions of considerable acclaim, challenging its creative team and casts. Superlative shows have rewarded the Almeida with a loyal and growing audience - tickets are often hot!

With only approximately 325 seats, the spirited theatre has become an Islington focal point for performing arts. Established and prominent actors mingle with blossoming young colleagues, creating an electrifying environment for contagious creativity - often by way of world premieres destined for awards and accolades.
