Criterion Theatre

Grande Dame

Standing proudly on Piccadilly Circus, the Grade II listed independent theatre boasts a history that harkens back to an opening double-bill of works by Henry J. Byron and W. S. Gilbert. Since 1874, her stage has been graced by the likes of Sarah Bernhardt, Sir John Gielgud, Edward Woodward and Dame Diana Rigg. Today, acting luminaries continue to regularly bow at the West End jewel.

The beautiful Cri - as she’s affectionately known - façade and foyer are particularly striking, courtesy of Thomas Verity’s ingenious design and architecture. Following extensive renovation that began in the late 1980’s, the theatre’s memorable entrance canopy impresses London’s visiting tourist footfall and enthusiastic audiences alike.

We’re delighted to play a role in the Cri’s tradition of brilliant performances by way of the programmes we produce. Whether a riotously funny comedy, ghostly thriller or thought-provoking drama, we ensure the Criterion’s programmes reflect the high standard of the shows performed. Of course we also wish everyone at the theatre a very happy milestone 150th anniversary!
