Carbon Balanced Printer certification – May 2026
Sustainability is an essential journey. At John Good, we are on our own trajectory towards making improvements that really make a difference.
As we have been sourcing carbon balanced papers approved by the World Land Trust for many years, the next natural step is for us to join the Carbon Balanced Programme and become a Carbon Balanced Printer. We are thrilled to share that we have been awarded the certification! As a Carbon Balanced Printer, we are a business that has measured and balanced our unavoidable primary carbon emissions through World Land Trust’s global Carbon Balanced projects. This significant step reassures our customers that John Good is not only a reliable supplier, but also a true partner in support of global eco-friendly ambitions.
Why have we chosen May to share our important news? Well, we could think of no better time than Sir David Attenborough’s centenary birthday month. The indefatigable broadcaster, writer, naturalist and conservationist has supported World Land Trust since it was founded in 1989 and became WLT's official patron in 2003. 💚 Very best wishes to a national treasure!
The robust certification application process included an array of evidence submitted, reflected in the assessment of metrics like fuel consumption, refrigerant gases, vehicular mileage, plus detailed analysis of scope 1 and 2 emissions. We passed with flying colours, thanks to the many mitigating factors we have in place, ranging from vetted recycling and waste management partners to LED lighting, an EV charging station and, of course, rooftop solar panels. Our company-wide culture of safeguarding our shared planet’s resources clearly made a positive impression!
The team at the World Land Trust have been very helpful in guiding us through the process and explaining the benefits the certification offers, which basically offsets not only individual print jobs, but our company footprint. Becoming a Carbon Balanced Printer is also a financial investment, and we’re confident this major stride forward demonstrates our genuine commitment to reducing both our own carbon impact and that of our many returning customers.
"The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of." - Sir David Attenborough
While too much of our planet is endangered, some positive figures are encouraging. For example, as of January 2025, 600,000 tonnes of CO2 have been Carbon Balanced through the Print and Paper Programme, some 90,500 acres have been protected within Carbon Balanced projects in Uganda, Vietnam, Mexico & Ecuador, dozens of threatened habitats and species like Eastern Chimpanzees, the African Savannah Elephant and the Giant Ground Pangolin are being protected by way of World Land Trust projects.
We are very excited about and proud of this milestone achievement. Read the press release here.
