Theatre Craft - November 2023
While audiences come to see the actors tell stories on stage, there is of course also a busy village of creatives, casting directors, stage managers, producers, technicians, administrators, set designers, lighting operators, marketers and others off stage, who make the magic of theatre happen.
TheatreCraft is the UK’s only job fair for young adults considering a non-stage career in the performing arts industry- and entirely free for attendees! John Good is delighted to once again be a major sponsor of the event, as testament to our commitment of fostering the next generation of all the incredible (and necessary!) people who work #BeyondTheStage.
The event is organised by the small but tireless team at Masterclass, Theatre Royal Haymarket’s charitable arm. Lots of planning goes into the event that takes place at the Royal Opera House; we begin our engagement with the project manager, marketing team and graphic designer as early as March. Fortunately- as typical for the theatre family- we know each other well (we cross paths at other events like Musical Con) and have become synchronised partners! Our contribution and support meant that we supplied the handy brochure guide for the day, as well as signage that helped eager attendees navigate not only the job fair, but also exciting workshops, talks, demonstrations and backstage tours across West End theatres.
The Autumn weather prior to the event had been pretty dismal, but thankfully, on the day, the sun came out and the Paul Hamlyn Hall and Linbury Theatre Foyer were abuzz with animated chats with exhibiting producers, membership organisations, tech suppliers, conservatoires, colleges and of course theatres!
Our Communications Manager, Till, attended the event – as he does each year- and not only caught up with the TheatreCraft team (and the many amazing volunteers!), but also had opportunity to greet many of our industry friends and colleagues, from Nimax Theatres and UK Theatre, to Cross Roads Live and Royal Shakespeare Company.
A worthy event and we’re thrilled to be involved- not least as the TheatreCraft team are truly appreciative.
