UK Pantomime Awards – June 2024

We went to the ball, laughed, cheered… and then laughed some more!

We were delighted to once again be among the goodies, the baddies and the dazzling at the annual awards hosted by the UK Pantomime Association, assisted by the brilliant team at G Live, Guildford. As the leading producer of panto programmes, and with our partnership with the Awards, we supplied the evening’s print, which included fetching posters, fun selfie frames, all-important certificates, vouchers, a welcoming window decal and, of course, the splendid programme.

Our Chairman and Communications Manager were both greeted by the awards’ producer and Association Chair, trustees and judges enthusiastically, which of course created a wonderful atmosphere for bonding and celebrating the richness and wealth of talent of the panto genre. Hosts Angellica Bell, Ore Oduba and Myra Dubois were wonderful and celebrity acts Tweedy the Clown and Robert Madge were fabulous. The outstanding singing and dancing by Stagecoach Sutton youngsters served as an optimistic nod to the future. There were also plenty of star turns on the red carpet… hello, Dame Kelly Holmes! We also caught up with a few customers and fellow suppliers who share our commitment to Pantoland over a glass of bubbly.

While there was of course much deserved celebrating, the evening also served as a reminder of the hard work that goes into each panto season, and the vital role it plays in encouraging diversity in performing arts and a frequent introduction for little ones to the magic of live theatre.

Congratulations to all winners, not least Canterbury Marlowe/Evolution Production’s Ben Roddy, who took home the Christopher Biggins Award for Best Dame, sponsored by John Good.
