World Book Day - March 2024

This year, the UK celebrates and marks World Book Day on March 7. We’ve asked our bibliophile Editorial colleagues to pen a blog about what books mean to them and the role books play in their department. Thank you, Louisa and Jade!

In Editorial, we appreciate the art of storytelling perhaps a little more than most. As part of the arts division at John Good, many of the productions that come across our desks have their story origins in books. We love being an extension of that storytelling by curating interesting and engaging content for our programmes that complement the stories being told on stage.

Both of us discovered our love of books and reading at a young age. As we grew up, the passion never went away, and we pursued studies in university relating to storytelling – Louisa with an English Literature degree and Jade with a Professional Writing and Publishing degree.

With our desks situated right in front of the John Good library, we are never too far from a good book. Louisa’s favourite book in the library is The Brontë Country because of the insight it provides into the surroundings and influences of some of her favourite authors. Jade’s pick from the library is Stories From Grimm, as she loves reading the darker origins of her favourite fairytales from when she was a kid.

These are our latest reads:

Louisa – Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake

Jade – Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
